I began turkey calling when I was about six years old. I picked it up from my Dad who always had them lying around the house. When I was seven years old, I appeared on the Jay Leno Show and called in my first NWTF Grand National Junior calling contest. My first NWTF Grand National Junior calling contest I came in sixth place, just 2 points out of fifth place. The following years I have came in 2nd and 3rd several times. When I was twelve years old, I was invited to be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform turkey calls. I was introduced to hunting at a very early age. My Dad always took me in the fall when he went hunting. I started hunting myself when I was around seven years old. I hunted squirrels with my Dad all the time. When I was ten, I was drawn to hunt in the Ohio One Shot Hunt. I killed my first bird on this hunt and got third in the contest. I have killed birds in numerous states including Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. I would say my favorite of these states is Kentucky. The mountain terrain is beautiful and the birds gobble very well. The main reason I continue in the sport of turkey hunting/calling is for the excitement. Not many other sports give you the excitement to get out of bed at 5 o'clock in the morning. I also enjoy it because you get to meet many great people and make friends that will last a lifetime. |
